Buttons: The history and
collecting of buttons
S. Euclid Library
Speaker: Jan Milic
This talk will include some of the
history of buttons and collecting them.
They are surprisingly interesting and
reflect historical styles, a wide range of
materials, construction, materials and
value.
Traditionally, people cut buttons from
garments before disposing of the
garments. There are also buttons
made just for collectors or for
designers.
Cleveland has had a collecting Society
since 1943. In addition to local clubs,
there are state and national
associations that sponsor annual
competitions and exhibits.
You will never look at buttons in the
same way again! Bring some of your
own favorite buttons.
