Village in the Heights to present at 33rd Annual Park Synagogue University Day

The 33rd annual University Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. May 6 at Park Synagogue at 27500 Shaker Blvd. in Pepper Pike.

Following a light breakfast and opening remarks by Rabbi Sharon Marcus, Naomi Sabel, founder of Sustainable Community Associates, and Susan Ratner, past president of Park Synagogue, will present the Weinberg Keynote Lecture on “The Next Chapter of Mendelsohn’s Park Synagogue.”

The remainder of University Day will feature workshops on topics including, “How to Win Hearts & Minds: Communication Strategies for Combating Antisemitism” with Kelly Fishman, regional director of the ADL Ohio River Valley; “The Challenges of Being a Federal Judge in 2026” with Judge Dan Polster; “Living Better Longer … at Home” with Paul Sobel of Village in the Heights – (11:00am – 11:55am); “Port of Cleveland: Economic Leader for Growth & Innovation” with Jeff Epstein, Port of Cleveland’s president and CEO; “The Federal Reserve and You: A Conversation with Cleveland CEO Beth Hammack” featuring Beth Hammack, Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland CEO; and “Jewish Musicals on Broadway” with Arnold Hirshon, vice provost and Lindseth Family University Librarian Emeritus at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

The day will close with a special program on “The Best College Band in the Country – The Ohio State Marching Band,” featuring Christopher Hoch, director of the OSU marching band, who will explain the “secret sauce” that makes the band’s magic happen.

University Day is open to all adults in the community with a cost of $30 for Park congregants and $36 for guests. The fee includes a kosher light breakfast and buffet lunch, keynote lecture, choice of workshops and closing program. Prepaid reservations are required by May 1.
